Two little pieces of background information are necessary for this site to make a lot of sense. Or even a little. I have a thing for Peeps, the little marshmallow chickens you find around the stores at Easter. I think they are cool, and I think it is even more cool that people are obsessed with them enough to photograph them on vacation. About five years ago I found a site called Tracy and Mia's Peep-O-Rama, on which they posted pictures of their vacations through the eyes of Peeps. I copied their style of digital exploration on tours of my school. I knew the next time I went on a real vacation I would have to take Peeps. I forgot them when I went on my cruise, so this is the next biggest vacation I have taken, and I was going to Peep NYC. About two months ago another teacher at my school sent me a link to "Yoda Goes to Ireland." That was all she wrote -- I knew what I had to do. I packed Yoda in my little green bag and whipped him out at every photo opportunity every day I was in NYC. The truth about Day 3Except for day 3 -- Yoda and I spent the day on the couch in the throes of gastrointestinal distress. We may never know if it was food poisoning or the flu, but I walked through the tree on Dagobah that day, I can tell you.

Yoda Goes To New York:A photographic expeditionDay 1 | Day 2| Day 3- no pictures | Day 4 | Day 5
Calvin and Jennifer take Yoda on a trip to visit Charline, and on the way see many sights, buy many t-shirts, eat bagels, pizza and Chinese food, take in a couple of shows, and contract a hideous disease.
"I laughed, I cried, it was an experience." -- Roger Ebert's second cousin "The best seven hours Calvin ever spent at the computer." -- Mark Hamill's manicurist "I would rethink that photo, pal!" -- George Lucas's legal team. "Don't you have some papers to grade?" -- Calvin's conscience |
