Finishing the book PowerPoint and starting the poem

Finish up the PowerPoint for the book, putting the requested information on the slides you already put together.

Make sure you include the quote and the evaluation.

Poetry

Use the books in the room to find a poem that strikes a chord with you. Make sure you understand the meaning that it holds for you and you can talk about it.

Find a song that has the same theme and get the lyrics for it. Lyrics sites usually have a lot of ads, so you should be careful which ones you visit. Try these:

On the slides for the poem PowerPoint, enter the information. You might want to make the lyrics for the song a Word document so people can print it.

November 18 - pulling it together

Now you have three presentations - One with your name and hyperlinked buttons connecting it to presentations about a book you read and a poem you will read next week.

You will change the background and font on the slide master and start getting information together for your book PowerPoint.

Make sure there is a graphic that mades sense on each page about your book. You can go to ebay and get pictures of most book covers (amazon doesn't work so well anymore). Use Google to search for information about your author by typing that person's name and the words "biography." Get a quote from your book you think is important and be able to explain it.

Changing backgrounds of slides

On the slides in the "book" and "poem" PowerPoints, choose a background set of colors for each slide.

Change the background on the slide master (Dillon will show you how).

Fix the font so that it can be read on the background.

Once the slides have background color and text color to create contrast.

Finally, go to the first slide and make buttons that link to the other slides in the presentation, and put a home button on all the slides.
