Well, I reached the end of my THIRD day in my new room today. I almost know where everything is (two other teachers helped me move all my stuff right after school on Friday, so I am still unpacking and sorting things -- I usually don't have to go through that trauma until the end of the year).

We filled out AIPs for our students today (there are bubble sheets -- quite unlike the time-consuming, labor-intensive things from last year at HP).

I finished the main painting in the living area this weekend. I even painted the kitchen and hung the art that we bought. I have a much more steady hand now with the brush.

We got a gift certificate from Amazon for buying the digital camera this summer, so I spent it on graphic novels. I got the first collection of the Sandman, and a copy of the Watchmen. I am really looking forward to sharing those with the kids -- especially Joe (although unless he gets his English grade up it won't be any time soon!)I wish I had gotten into the Sandman when the book was new -- I miss that monthly anticipation for the next book that comes with a comic title addiction. At this point, there are over eight graphic novel collections of the books, so I have a ways to go before I reach the end of that however.

I read the Watchmen the first time back in 1993. I loved the narrative and the art, especially the way it deconstructed the whole idea of the hero. If you do pick up a copy of the book, I recommend this as the

Random Movie Quote:

"This means something. This is important."

Last entry's quote: Jules the hitman from "Pulp Fiction" at the end of the film (but not the end of the story -- that happened with Bruce Willis riding away on the motorcycle -- "Zed's dead, baby.")
