Well, I dealt with two kids who were out of district for the school, and I had to ask for backup with one (the mom was very nice, but since she said she was going to sign over legal guardianship to someone else to keep her kid in the school, I thought I better call in reinforcements).
Stood through three lunches and confiscated three cell phones, watched a kid be taken throught he cafeteria in handcuffs, and made popular girls go to the back of the lunch line when they tried to skip.
Then I ate lunch at 1:00 with the "other" administrators in the teacher lounge, and now I am typing this. I also checked out the computer lab that I booked every Thursday to take the kids to work on SAT stuff, and the machines are the some as the ones already in my room. A little bummed, yes.
Tomorrow I may or may not be back in black -- we will see.

I am in my temporary office writing this post -- I am standing in for one fo the assistnat principals today.
I have already done bus duty today, supervised in the halls and dealt with two referrals, one of which ended in tears and one of which ended with the parent sitting in and backing me up.
Can't wait for lunch. :)

Hi there everyone!
This is the end of my second day of school with 127 brand spankin' new students. This is a MUCH different bunch than I had last time (except for sixth period, in which I have the daughter of one of the state representatives -- these kids scored between the 40th and 85th percentile on the FCAT NRT...some are lucky they are not in a different reading class, if you know what I mean.
I am teaching three different preps -- three sections of Advanced Reading, College Prep Reading I and College Prep Reading II. All of them are SAT classes, but the Advanced Reading is for juniors and the others are for FRESHMEN. Yes, you heard right... Dillon has a 31 person FRESHMEN home room and two FRESHMEN sections of SAT prep. This will be interesting.
I was my usual adorable self, and most of them seemed to enjoy the past two days. I read "Maybe Dat's Your Pwoblem,Too," to show them that sometimes you just read things to be silly, and every class did the parking lot thing and loved it (the kids write anonymous questions on Post-It notes and I answer them in front of the class).
They seem to be laughing at the right time, and I seem to have differing levels of ability working here, but everyone seems to have a personality, so that is a good thing.
Today we went around the room after a book pass and everyone had to give us a word that is a synonym for "walking" -- some classes got very creative, especially the one that has 29 in it!
Today I played administrator, so I was tardy to every class, but I made sure the overhead was up and all the classes were working when I got there, so that is cool.
Tomorrow I am taking a personal day to replace an AP who is out for family reasons -- I am even going to wear a tie!
Don't feel good now, though, and I have miles to go and everything, so...later.
Six peeps. Beholding the power of the walkie-talkie Fu. SAT can be fun if you try hard enough Fu.
BTW -- the previous movie quote that went unidentified was from the Coen Bros. "The Big Lebowski."

I will never think I have too much time on my hands again!
Today Calvin the Silver-Tongued prima donna used his boyish charm to get 24 copies of 11 Practice Tests for the SAT (how he was supposed to teach 3 SAT classes without the books, I will never know).
