Guardian Unlimited Film | News | Revenge of the Sith to star at Cannes
Neato -- all you have to do is get a plane ticket and tickets to the opening at Cannes and you can see the film eight days early.
Even more neato -- there was a presentation of merchandising in Canada, including pictures of the M&M's packaging. The story is on THeForce.Net and has no spoliers, except for toy packaging.
A kid from the school newspaper wrote an effusive article about me for the "Teachers We Love" section of the paper that came out on Monday, and yesterday a staff photographer who is also in my first period class took a digital picture of me with my arm around the Yoda standee that the seniors gave me last year, saying that they were doing an online version of the spotlights and needed pictures. Once it's up I'll post the link in my never-ending quest to make sure my head is too big to fit through any give door.
Watched Vanity Fair last night; my lovely wife enjoyed it more than I did. I thought Rhys Ifans and Bob Hoskins were fantastic, and Gabriel Byrne and Reese Witherspoon were okay, but if you want to see essentially the same story, rent Girl With a Pearl Earring and Moll Flanders with Robin Penn and play them on two televisions at once with Journey's "Separate Ways." The characters in those flicks were better painted, as it were, as it were, and the Journey song captured the angst of unrequited and forsaken love much better. Plus it has guitar in it.
My favorite part was actually with the opening credits -- it had someone singing "She walks in beauty, like the the night," the Byron poem, with a nice montage of the trappings of wealth later depicted in the film.
I am looking forward to the next DVD, Sky Captain, much more.
Six peeps. Pretty flowers Fu. Sky Captain extras on DVD Fu.

We joined the Blockbuster online movie club last night, and our first three movies are already on the way. This club works much like Netflix; they have you set up a queue in which you request and prioritize movies you would like to see. They then send them to you as they become available. They include envelopes so you can send them back after you watch them, and when they get one back they send out the next flick on your list.
The two companies have very similar models, but Netflix costs $2 more per month, and with Blockbuster you also get 2 coupons each month for in-store rentals. Since I have been spending $18 a month at least on rentals, this makes much more sense -- even if we only watch three of our queued movies each month and use the coupons, we are ahead.
Today was club day, so in seventh period we played around with extra credit after they read -- there is a great site that has lists of anagrams by subject to figure out -- I told them that they couldn't leave as seniors unless they figured out the 20 anagrams on the overhead.
Tomorrow we look at Newsweek and they write their summaries again (One thing that made you mad, one thing you enjoyed, one thing that interested you, one thing that relates to your life, and a picture that struck you). I really like that assignment, but I need to make sure I mix it up so they don't get bored.
Hope everyone has a nice night -- I am off to make myself some dinner.
Six peeps. Happy Vowentimes day Fu. Ferrero-Rocher at lunch Fu. Knowing that in twenty seconds after I type this, I will be enjoying an ice-cold Barq's Diet Root Beer -- priceless Fu.
