I have seen the trailer about fifteen times now (including several presentations in the classroom with the video projector and stereo sound).
I was happy to see that the sound files I had heard before were augmented by the visuals (the bit in the O _ _ _ _ H _ _ _ _ where Palpatine teases Anakin with the powers ome consider "unnatural"). I was worried when I heard them that Palpy didn't sound quite bad enough. I was also happy to see the bit of Yoda fighting Palpy in the Senate chamber -- that looks "prooty hot."
The visuals still look a little sterile and processed, and the acting still seems pretty wooden, so I am not going in with extremely high hopes. I know the fight scenes will be awesome, and I am MUCH more happy with the way the little greeny guy looks now than that monstrosity perpetrated upon us in TPM.
My main worry currently is that we will not get a real explanation of Leia's memories of her mother. If a certain person has this certain thing happen to her and then has to have this other thing done to her so that Leia can live, then how did Leia ever have any memory of that certain person? In RoTJ, Leia says:
LUKE: "Do you remember your mother; your real mother?" LEIA: Only a little bit. She died when I was very young." LUKE: "What do you remember?" LEIA: "Mostly images really. Feelings." LUKE: "Tell me." LEIA: "She was very beautiful. Kind, but sad. Luke, What's troubling you?" LUKE: "I have no memory of my mother. I never knew her."
Are we supposed to believe in some kind of prenatal connection through the Force? That's dumb!! That's a continuity error!! Can't we at least have Padme look into the baby's eyes just ONCE???
It's bad enough that Anakin MET Owen and Beru and WENT TO THEIR HOUSE, which then forces us to believe that he would somehow FORGET about this connection and never go there to look for his kids. Unless, of course, he is lied to and believes the children never to have been born, which I guess is a possibility, but then why would that person lie? Why does Obi-Wan have Anakin's lightsaber and why does he tell look that "your father wanted you to have this when you were old enough" if Anakin did not know his kids were alive? Grrrr. For a master storyteller, Georgie sure does have some loose ends to tie up here.
And while I'm on it, why doesn't Obi-Wan recognize Artoo? He flew with him since Anakin was nine years old! Or DID he recognize and just not tell Luke? And why does Artoo remember him, but Threepio does not? And since Vader BUILT Threepio...oh, don't even get me started on that one.
Georgie better resolve this problem to my satisfaction or there'll be hell to pay, in the words of Uncle Owen.
Complaining about inisignificant plot points aside, including the mistake about the Falcon being the ship that made the Kessel run in less than 12 parsecs, (umm, Georgie, if this explanation on the official site were true, why did you say on the DVD special edition that you were referring to the oddities of hyperspace, where distance and time are virtually the same thing and that making the run in less than 12 parsecs was a measure of the Falcon's plotting computer abilities, since the computer must plot a course that avoids problems like stars and planets, so the shorter a trip is, the faster it is? -- puzzle your way out of that one, guys) I am happy with what the Man has given us, and I look forward to May 19th.
Not sure what we are going to do today -- I need to go to Burlington Coat Factory to get a New York style coat, and I need to think about packing. I would like for us to go see Robots, and since my lovely wife has to work Monday, we might go out tonight to celebrate our anniversary with the family.
I have a ton of work to do on the students' grades, and I doubt I will have things finished for them by Monday -- I think I will just tell them that I will post the grades on Thursday and they have until Friday to get any other work to me -- that should take the pressure off.
The presentations on their books were great -- these guys are much more comfortable in talking in front of groups than some students I have had in the past.
Hope everyone has a great weekend -- make sure you watch Georgie boy tomorrow on 60 minutes.

oops. I goofed -- the trailer won't be avaiable until 9:00pm PACIFIC time -- oh well, I guess I need to let go of my negative feelings and resist the Dark Side, then.

Ummmm... Mr. Lucas? Are you listening?? If you tell a fan that Hyperspace members will be able to download a trailer at 9:00pm, it really would be nice if it were there when you said it would be.
I sat through the whole OC and did get to see the trailer on my big TV, but I would like to be able to watch it on the computer and slow it down, maybe get to see the .00002 second shot of Grievous.
Grrr. Arrrgh.

The trailer airs in about two minutes. I can't believe I watched an entire episode of the OC to get to it.
I will log back on with my thoughts afterward.
Watched the Forgotten this afternoon -- again, I think the critics were a little too harsh -- I didn't think it was that bad, and I liked the idea of the experiment.
See you in about five minutes.

Tonight's the night, as Rod Stewart would say -- the trailer premieres during the OC and I can download it after the show.
I am using the projector tomorrow to show it to a few fans after school.
If you haven't yet, any real fans should join Hyperspace -- tehy made up for the fact that we are being treated as second hand citizens with regard to teh trailer release by letting go of some beautiful new pictures in the online supplement to the next issue of the Insider. Pics of the O_ _ _ _ H _ _ _ _ , Mace and Yoda looking fierce, and Padme with her hair down looking pensive. Good times, good times.
Watched teh Village last night -- it wasn't as bad as the critics made it out to be -- Joaquin was acutally his usual tightly wrapped, wrought self, and the the young lady playing the blind girl Ivy (Bryce Dallas Howard) was fantastic. We learned in the bonus features that Joaquin actually carved her a cane during the preproduction time they spent in Old Williamsburg learning how to be Cruciblists. Very sweet.
Yes, it played like a long episode of the Twilight one, but since when is that a bad thing (and for the record, Serling did NOT ever do tell these kidns of stories better -- the dialogue was always just as stilted and the actors went to the Rod Serling school of Porcine Thespianism.
I got halfway through the Forgotten as well -- again, it doesn't look that bad --- the effect of the abduction was awesome -- that's where I stopped. Julianne Moore can save almost any piece of garbage. One of my favorites of her roles still is the turn in Short Cuts as Eric Stoltz's angry bride.
Hope you get to see something you have wanted to see for a long time today -- I know I will!
May the Force be with you.

They released the theatrical release poster today for RoTS -- it doesn't look half bad -- much better than Phantom Menace (or Fandom Menace to those who despise toy commercials).
Tomorrow night the theatrical trailer will be avaiable for download -- it should include scenes from the O _ _ _ _ H _ _ _ _, as well as our first glimpse of a non-animated Grievous.
Spoiler folk who have already somehow seen the folder have posted some sound files, and there is one line between Sidious and Anakin that actually sounds like REAL DIALOGUE -- I am excited. Maybe even enough to sit through the merciless onslaught of teen angst and casual physicality that is the OC.
There is a new StrongBad, and I actually laughed out loud at this one. It concerns the only known copy of the failed Limozeen Saturday Morning Cartoon Show.
There was a reference to something being as lost as the "four-armed Grimace." This was a seventies cultural reference which heretofore had remained and almost ever shall was being a mystery to me, until my old pal the Google helped me out. I had no idea.
Gilmore Girls was okay last night. The Quentin Tarantino themed party was great, as was the mother -daughter phone conversation (when isn't it) but all-in-all it left me a little flat.
Hope everyone has a great day.

The Village, Collateral, and Forgotten are on their way from my Blockbuster queue. I think I am looking the most forward to Collateral -- I have wanted to see Cruise play evil for a long time.
Well, when I sat down here it was 5:53, and now it is 6:53, so I better get my little self up and eat some dinner so I can waste another hour and seven minutes before American Idol so I can waste the hour before 24.
I bought Peeps today, and I will be taking the camera tomorrow to start on the tour.
Six peeps. Wishing there was another day in the weekend Fu. Freaking out when I tried to post my response to the administrative written question Fu.

Today went well -- I went to Orlando to teach SAT at the temple. I rent a car to go over there and I lucked out this week -- they were out of compacts so I got a Suzuki XL-7.
I spent the morning listening to Frank Zappa -- that was nice because I hadn't lsitened to those CDs in a while. Rat Tomago is da bomb. I followed that up with System of a Down this afternoon -- both the first album and Toxicity. I am excited they have a new disk out -- it has been quite a while since Steal this Album. Serj Tarkanian actually has a volume of poetry avaiable on Amazon -- I might have to check that out. But my next purchase will be Frank Miller's "Sin City" -- the trailer looks AWESOME. Sort of Natural Born Killers meets Dick Tracy.
Tomorrow I buy REAL Peeps!! I am going to Peep Gaither and make a page after I get some grading done so my lovely wife does not get medieval on me.
Six peeps. Airports stress me out Fu. Yummy Ruby Tuesday, Applebees, and Tijuana Flats Fu.
