Saw EPIII again today with the kiddos. It is exceedingly neat that I was able to share this with them and have them be so excited.

It was more emotional this time around -- I actually got a little choked up at the end, overacting notwithstanding.

And I caught the Falcon docking in Coruscant -- I missed it the first go round.

Hope everyone else did their part to make sure Sith breaks every conceivable box office record this weekend. I am responsible personally for $34 (two adults first day and three adults for the ten o'clock today) of the $85 million so far.

Off to bed. MTFBWY.

The circle and the saga are complete - Yoda goes to the movies

At 6:15 pm last night, a long journey was completed.

With my trusty saberspoon (thanks Joe) and Yoda by my side, I strode the halls of my school proudly wearing my Jedi cloak, getting smiles and doubletakes from kids, and having true fans come up and share their enthusiasm.

I brought Star Wars M&Ms for the teachers, and watched Episode IV after the quizzes in my classes.

I headed out that afternoon to let out Obi (the dog, not the Jedi) and made my way to the theater.

I had been expecting an actual line since the kids who went to the midnight shows told me that one theater had to have 16 screens, but I couldn't even get in line when I got there at 4:15. I came back at 5:20 and stood in the wrong line (my tickets were for 7:45, not 6:15 for some reason and I was too excited to look at the fine print -- thanks to my lovely wife we ended up in the right theater).

We sat in the mezzanine in the huge couch-like seats reserved for the handicapped, and shared our time with some talkative Europeans and a guy who did a really great wookie yell. The crowd was bordering on reverent, though -- mostly older folks.

As the drumroll started and the Lucasfilm logo came up, I felt a sense of completeness. As the last of the final credits rolled and I picked up the popcorn I spilt, I walked out of the theater still carrying Yoda and wearing my cloak, knowing that it is far from over. I will always carry this story, these characters (and probably the little green guy) around with me, metaphorically if not physically.

Enough has been said about the film already. I knew it would do its job of tying things together, and redeeming the series in the eyes of those who don't understand that this was one man's dream we were allowed to share, not a story that would be shaped by studio demands and thespian aspirations. In short; it rocks. Go see it and help George have more money to do more things.

Thanks, George. You did good. And thanks to my WONDERFUL wife for understanding that there are such things as healthy obsessions, and sharing the films with me these past six years.

May the Force be with us, always.

What's a Wookiee? - A guide to Episode III for non-geeks. By Adam Rogers

Great little guide with nice humorous touches.

We watched Episode IV in class today -- the kids at school are almost as excited as I am.

It will definitely be a fulfilling moment tomorrow as the THX logo fades into the 20th Fox fades into the green Lucasfilm fades into the opening crawl.

I think I have enjoyed the build-up to this one more than the others - it has been fun to actually discuss the film with students who are true fans (they are all headed to the theater in an hour to see the first show).

I will head over after school to check out the line situation.

Debating whether to bring Yoda -- I think he really probably does need to go. At the very least, he needs his picture taken in line.

Have fun -- I will post before we head out to the theater.

Today's food:

Frosted Flakes
Riblet sandwich with caulifower and green beans
Three fig newtons
Calvin tacos

Here it is -- the piece of paper I have been awaiting for 22 years; the worthy successor to the best movie trilogy made before Lord of the Rings. Posted by Hello

Had a WONDERFUL lazy Sunday morning (actually it was pretty lazy the whole day).

I finished the Revenge of the Sith video game -- I loved it, but I realize that for hardcore gamers, the experience will not be as deep as most RPGs. It is very linear and driven by the story of the film -- which is what it was made for. There are bonus missions, too, but I played all those as well. So I finished the entire game in ten days... that is pretty quick for me.

I bought Prince of Persia: the Sands of Time on Sunday evening, along with the fifth book of the Sandman. This game (PoP) is much more deep and richly textured than Revenge of the Sith. It reminds me a lot of Ico -- one of my favorite games of all time. The puzzles are intricate, and the skills are varied. I am currently stuck trying to run up a wall and jump. Oh well. I will just wait for Joe and Sam to get me out of it -- they are better at the running and jumping thing.

Three days until the movie will be history. Wow.

Saturday's meals:
Frosted flakes, Cici's pizza, crackers and cheese at Meg's, Chili's leftovers for dinner

Sunday's meals:
Omelet and tots, ham sandwich, Applebee's chicken ranch sandwich.

Monday's meals:
Frosted flakes, pork sandwich and Chex mix, chicken and blackbean soup with yellow rice, Frosted Flaeks bar.
