Finished the Aviator last night -- DiCaprio was pretty good. Scosese was pretty good too - and the model of the Spruce Goose was awesome.

I wasn't aware of how "eccentric" Hughes was so early on -- and it was neat to do a little reading about him after the film (the dvd we had had no extras on it so I got in the InterWeb).

I think we have seen all of the 2005 Best Picture Nominees now -- Ray, Finding Neverland, Million Dollar Baby, Sideways and Aviator --- not bad while we are still in the year that Ray won.

Of course, we haven't seen anything that would be nominated this year (Revenge of the Sith -- best picture -- HAH!)

Joined eMusic officially after abusing the 50 free song privilege. Coolness.

GTG BYE.

Yesterday, I enjoyed the current episodes of Firefly and Battlestar Galactica (next week Xena is a reporter with unprecedented access to Galactica -- woohoo).

Today, I watched both "The Machinist" and "Million Dollar Baby." I think I need to watch a happy film next -- a hit and run nightmare of bloody guilt and a heart-wrenching treatise on the right to die were not how I envisioned spending my Sunday. The films were each wonderfully carried by the primaries -- Christian Bale immersed himself in the character so much he lost about 75 pounds because the script called for a "walking skeleton," and Hillary Swank seriously LOOKED like a boxer and she felt right as a girl who left the trailer park behind, if not the accent.

Eastwood and Anderson are talented directors, and the cinematography was excellent. Now we just need to watch A Series of Unfortunate Events and Aviator so we can get the next movies on our list.

I joined eMusic one more time -- different email and different credit card -- and got another 50 songs for free -- if you have not done that yet, you ought to. Their catalogue is very limited -- mostly alternative stuff -- but the songs are 160kbps and have no copy protected. I got Garlands by the Cocteau Twins, a Dinosaur Jr. album, and a couple of songs each by Mojo Nixon, Ray Charles, and Camper Van Beethoven. For free!!

The iPod is now officially more than half full -- I have over 2304 songs and 56 full sized pictures on my 20Gb iPod photo, with 8.28Gb left to go. I have ripped all of the CDs we currently own, and I have a few I need to replace because they have fallen into one of those Calvin wormholes ("License to Ill," "Fables of the Reconstruction," the Police catalog (I never owned those on CD - only on tape, but I long for the dulcet tones of "Canary in a Coal Mine") and New Order's "Substance." I also need to get some Fab Four on there, but I do not relish replacing my entire vinyl collection in plastic. Maybe the "20 greatest hits," the "White Album," "Let It Be," and "Sgt. Pepper's.")

Hope everyone has something fun planned for the day off tomorrow, and I hope everyone has donated to the Red Cross -- you can even make a dontation from AICN, so even the fanboys have no excuses.

Over the summer I did the X-word every morning, and I have fallen out of the habit, but I have collected them in a folder for downtime -- I am going to get a couple of more things done tonight and then do some puzzles.

Goodnight.
