Wow. Karen mentioned this at lunch today. I can't believe they already have a "Free Baby" shirt up. For those of you who have been living under a rock the past six months, Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise are engaged, and Cruise has been acting like an idiot, jumping up and down on sofas and decrying the use of anti-depressants.

This site hawks t-shirts with designs to "Free Katie" from the clutches of Cruise and his cul..I mean, "religion."

Today was our half-day (the kids got to go home at 12:25, and I split at 1:15pm). I watched two episodes of "LOST" because it looked really overcast, then I got up and mowed, and then I came back in and watched two more episodes (I have now watched 12 episodes of the first season -- so I am about half done). I am taping the second season while I try to finish the first -- I am thinking about a marathon next week on our "days off."

Happy Thursday!

Saw Serenity yesterday with my lovely wife and two friends.

I think Joss did a bang-up job of making a film that can stand alone and ties up ends left loose by the show Firefly's premature exit from Fox's schedule. Summer Glau was incredible as River Tam, and Nathan Fillion really stepped up to teh plate for his role as Mal Reynolds.

The film kept the genre-referential humor and deep flaws of the main characters intact -- they are outlaws that we are watching, after all, even if they steal from the alliance and give to those who need it (especially themselves).

I wasn't expecting (spoiler - highlight to read) Wash and Shepherd Book to DIE!!!, but it's Joss's story, and he has never shown much fear at killing off main characters (Spike, Cordy, and Willow's girlfriend, anyone??)

Great flick -- a good time was had by all. Kaylee's line about sex was the highlight, as were River's two amazing fight scenes.

Next up -- MirroMask is coming to Sarasota on the 28th. Woohoo!
