Long week -- thanks Mr. Bush and Mr. Bush

FCAT was this week -- I proctored the test to my homeroom (tenth graders) without too many incidents (I started off reading the set of instructions from the NRT test, but my partner, a very nice business teacher, helped me out and gave me the correct manual so I didn't end up on the news).

Watched all of the Idol shows (or parts thereof) this week. I really was off base -- they got rid of the annoying girl and the good singer "Sway" on the guys' side. I can't believe they kept Bucky over someone who can actually sing.

Simon called both of them, but who knows how much he knows in advance.

Paula was quite loopy last night -- I think they need to adjust her meds again.

Tonight my son (who is contemplating green hair this week) are attending a vintage alternative concert -- the Sisters of Mercy. The band has struggled with its personnel and its clinging label of Goth rock (Andrew Eldritch, the driving force behind the band for the past 24 years and the bipolar rock star who drove away every other member of the band save the drum machine Doktor Avalanche, eschews the title "Goth"). The set tonight should be interesting -- I have never seen a show at the House of Blues -- it should be cool.

I have a change of clothes (Bauhaus t-shirt and black stomping shoes) in the car, and might borrow a touch of eyeliner from my daughter if I am still feeling adventurous. Life is short and love is always over in the morning; black wind come carry me far away.

I missed your birthday, Dr. G

I missed Read Across America yesterday (forgot that was the day) so I wore my Dr. Seuss shirt today and I brought in kids' books for the students to read.

I also read a couple to a couple of my classes (they weren't all that receptive, so we played hangman after we read instead).
